FAULT-FINDING: A trait of Narcissism

FAULT-FINDING: A trait of Narcissism

Matthew 7 : 1 – 5 (TPT Version)

1 Refuse to be a critic full of bias toward others, and judgment will not be passed on you.

2 For you’ll be judged by the same standard that you’ve used to judge others. The measurement you use on them will be used on you.

3 Why would you focus on the flaw in someone else’s life and yet fail to notice the glaring flaws of your own?

4 How could you say to your friend, ‘Let me show you where you’re wrong,’ when you’re guilty of even more?

5 You’re being hypercritical and a hypocrite! First acknowledge your own ‘blind spots’ and deal with them, and then you’ll be capable of dealing with the ‘blind spot’ of your friend.

Fault-finding is a hypercritical state of the mind that easily leads to narcissism if not checked!

When youre bent on finding fault with people, you loose the ability to even check yourself and that results to Hypocrisy!

Fault-finding is one of the traits of narcissism and is often fueled by the erroneous mindset that you are better (more perfect or righteous) than others and you are blinded by pride and see nothing wrong in yourself or what you do

How can you see the particle of dust in someone’s eye but fail to see the log of wood stuck out of your own eyes? That is what fault-finding does!It makes you focus on others and channel your lifes energy into finding their faults and pointing out their imperfections while you feel you’ve got it all right at your own end.

The danger with this is that you end up making others become better while you’re stuck with a load of imperfections because you never took time to reflect upon yourself and see how you can help yourself get better.

Just as Jesus said, remove the log in your eyes first so that you can see clearly to identify the particle of dust in another persons eyes.

Many times, what you see is based on assumptions, inferiority complex, bias and sentiments. But when you purge yourself, you will be able to see proper. You will be able to ask questions and seek clarifications before you find faults.

Fault-finding affects your relationship with people in a very bad way. No one wants a friend or sibling or spouse that is always finding faults.

You may end up feeling lonely inside of you and your heart aching.

The cure to Fault-finding is to PAUSE. REFLECT AND DECIDE to focus your energy on positivity and the bright side of people’s lives.

We all have grey areas of our lives and it will be very unwise for you to focus on people’s grey areas, especially when you haven’t even taken time to know them and ask questions, but you base your judemnt on assumptions and emotions.

Make a deliberate attempt to love and value people not because of how perfect you judge them to be, but because they are humans just like you!

At the end, when our faces are pressed to the ground below six feet in total surrender to the will of death, it wont matter who is right or wrong, who is perfect or imperfect!

Everyone will be left to His or Her maker to give account of the life lived! This reality should humble us to live the best of life as much as we can!

Good morning and have a blessed new week!😊
